Susan looks really well
I went to see my sister tonight- and she looks really well. She'd had a hospital appointment today- and the nurse reckons that the wound will be healed before we are due to go away. She said that the car journey was a bit of a nightmare- so it looks as though she will travel by train. It then sounded like Dad wasn't keen on the idea of going by train- so I might be going on the train yet!
Sue also has a problem with clothes at the moment. She's lost such a lot of weight that nothing fits- but the wound and the stoma means that she can only wear dresses. She only has 2 of mum's dresses to choose from. She isn't fit enough to go shopping. So we took a catalogue to show her. I was pointing out every dress and she was pulling her face up at every one! We eventually found some plain sundresses that didn't have waistbands. Unfortuntely now I'm home- they are all out of stock. I had a look at another catalogue online and ordered whatever they had in her size on a buy next year deal.
Neither of us wear dresses very often- so I have no idea what is in the shops. Maybe I need to take a flying visit round all the supermarket chains and a few other shops. They need to be shift dresses and quite plain.
Her work had had a collection and bought her lots of plants, wine, chocolates and chocolate cake and given her the balance in cash. They'd collected quite a lot- her best friend had taken the collection round and said everyone had been very generous.
It was the first time I'd managed to get over since I heard- and I couldn't bring up the Big C. I just asked how she was and said we would help in any way she wanted. I'm glad I've got that initial visit over- as I was in tears until a few days ago whenever I thought about it.
She looks so well now- it just seems impossible to think that she has to go through chemo soon.
