Walk 27- Royal Leamington Spa

We didn't know where we'd end up when we started out on Sunday! We just drove, decided to go to Cannock Chase, missed the exit AGAIN and then decided to follow the signs for Leamington. We used to go there as a treat when I was a child and loved the playgrounds. We started off walking round a nature reserve right by the swimming pool. Then we headed into the town and parked right outside Jepshon Park- by the Pump house and baths.

All Saints Church- built in the Gothic style and rivals many cathedrals in size. I would love to have a look round inside.

'Taking the water'- giving Holly a drink at the fountain. It was built on the spot where the spa water was discovered in 1810. A builder came across and offered us a plastic bowl for her to use. Normally we take her own out with us.
The pump house and baths in Leamington. It made the region very popular with people coming to bathe in the water to get rid of various ailments.
A monument to Jephson- a marble statue is inside.
A chinese palm infront of the fountains.
Temperate House- built with a 3M grant from the heritage lottery fund.

The Town Hall was built in 1830. It had a statue of Queen Victoria outside which was apparently hit by bombers in WW2 and moved on it's plinth- it was never resited and has a plaque to commemorate this.

Leamington Spa was granted Royal status because Queen Victoria stayed overnight on her way to Birmingham when she was 11.

It was another beautiful morning and we'd started out at 9- so made the best of the weather.

On our way back to the car just outside the park gates- we saw a traffic warden taking photos of OUR car! We were extremely lucky that she took the photos before she issued the tickets as we were JUST in time. She showed us that the free parking was the other side of the lights and there were other various places we could have parked for free.
