Guide Dog Week- meet Rudolph

Meet Rudolph!!!!!!! It's Guide Dog week this week and it's also their 80th anniversary celebrations. Since we had a talk about a guide dog and met one whilst I was at Primary school- it has always been an ambition to raise enough money to sponsor a guide dog. Until a few years ago I think that the amount it cost - remembered from a childhood perspective seemed something I could do one day! I looked into it and it now costs 28K. Now unless I start running marathons to raise funds (and that is as likely as teaching an elephant to fly without the help of Disney!) it's not in my grasp. Last year I had an info pack through about being able to sponsor a puppy monthly and did mean to sponsor one. Anyway this week I looked into it again.

Then this morning on Daybreak the presenter went out with his friend who has a guide dog- and it prompted me to sign up today.

Rudolph is one of three puppies on their current campaign. He's a rough and tumble pup and he has a happy smiley face like Holly. Plus Emma is obsessed with Rudolph the reindeer!

I always remember reading Emma and I- Sheila Hocken about her experiences with a guide dog. It's one of those books that always stayed with me- probably because of the talk we'd had at school. I think it's the time that the name Emma stuck in my mind as a pretty name (just don't tell Emma she's named after a guide dog!).

I've been having a couple of cookery magazines and recently I've stopped looking through them. So I will cancel those today and Rudolph is the new campaign! We've sponsored him in the girls name as part of their 18th next year- just seems a nice way of celebrating!
