Our weekend in Derbyshire

We've just had a lovely weekend in Derbyshire. It was for my bday and a bit of time on our own. My parents offered to have the girls and the dog. We booked a lovely hotel appartment- and I would definately go back there. We'd been given a double bedroom when we arrived- so Guy invited his parents over for the second day!!!!!! HE also got up to watch the rugby at 6am and watched the football until midnight- who says romance is dead!!!!!!!!

All of the photos have uploaded out of sequence- but never mind! The first day we went to the Heights of Abraham. The views were stunning - but I don't think I'll return! I discovered that I wasn't keen on the cable car (to be honest I'm never THAT keen on them- but these seemed really high!). I also discovered that I didn't like the underground cavern tour. I was making myself breathless - by having a mini panic attack! I think it was because the guide said it was the last point that we could return up to the top.

This one is the Great Dining Room at Chatsworth- it was the first adult dinner that Princess Victoria attended at 13. It takes 40 hours to polish the silver. Every place setting is measured out.

This was the view from the top of The Heights of Abraham- the views really were stunning.

There was a sculpture exhibition on at Chatsworth and it was really odd to see lots of modern statues amongst the old setting!

This is the tree top terrace where we had a lovely cup of coffee and delicious piece of cake. It overlooked the views over the Heights of Abraham.

This was the lounge in our appartment- we had a dvd player and wish we'd gone out to buy a current dvd to watch. His parents brought over a selection of free ones from the paper and we watched a really odd film!

One of the modern sculptures at Chatsworth.

The main bedroom- both bedrooms were ensuite.

Ready for bed- I took a couple of books with me, although I only managed to read a few pages!
The cable cars.

Guy in Derwent Gardens, Matlock Bath.

Chatsworth gardens- I wouldn't mind walking around the gardens again, they were stunning.

An enormous pair of feet!

Guy's parents must have been married 50 years- and they still walk along like this when they are out. We don't even manage that now. I suppose it doesn't help that both of us are always attached to a camera!!!!!!!!
