Perranporth 2011

This really is one of my favourite views. If I could choose to live anywhere- it would be in Cornwall. I love Perranporth. We stay in flats right beside the beach and can see the sea from the lounge and watch people walking on the beach. This is the view on the way up to the Haven Holiday site. It's quite a walk- but the views are spectacular. Guy took the car up this year with my dad- and the girls chose to go back in the car. Mum and I decided to walk down to the beach and walk that way (beach is 3 miles long at low tide). When we got down there the tide was on it's way in- and mum didn't want to wade round the cliffs. So we sat waiting to see if it was due to go out again. But eventually had to climb the cliff stairs again and walk back over the top of the cliffs. Stupidly- we'd sent our bags back in the car- so we didn't have a phone OR money. So we couldn't get a drink at the holiday camp- OR phone them to tell them. Guy had been quite worried and had walked up to the camp- whilst we were waiting on the beach for the tide to go out!
Holly on the Cliff walk.

I like this photo of my niece Kimberley. She's at the stage where she hates having her photo taken- but we still managed to get a few shots.

This is the pool in Chapel Rock. I used to love this as a child- I wouldn't be so keen to get in it now!

The family at the millennium sundial- our annual photograph!
Amy on the rocks!

I think I've picked the wrong shot of Holly lifeguarding! SHe is such a poser that she will happily sit where ever you place her- until she decides she's posed long enough!
The Watering Hole- the beach bar! We had morning coffee here this year- next year we'll have to have a meal overlooking the ocean!

The Ponsmere Hotel has amazing views over the beach and has it's own stairs down to the sands. We've stayed here a few times- can't afford to anymore!

Someone asked me about the 'blowhole' in Perranporth and I'd never heard of it. I think we found it this year! This must be it- the waves crash through. It was on the opposite cliffs- we don't usually walk past millennium point that way. This year I had wanted to try and walk to St Agnes- but we just walked a short way to satisfy my curiosity.

The steps down to a part of the beach we've never been on- think it is probably under water most of the time.

Droskyn Castle appartments- I bet these have spectacular views.

 My sister and niece.
My mum being kept happy with a 99p bucket and spade (bought for the photography challenge we set!). She missing the girls being little- but they had fun with this anyway!

Looks as though you had a fantastic time. I am sure I must have been to Perranporth when I was a child. We lived in North Devon for 6 years and I regret not exploring more of Cornwall while we were down there - it#s a bit of a long way to travel from here!

Yes - it would be a bit of a trek for you. It takes 6 1/2 hours on the train from Birmingham! I think it took my dh 4 hours to drive- but they did leave at 3am! I would love to live in Cornwall- although to be truthful- anywhere by the sea would suit me.
