My new fridge is finally here and actually IN the kitchen! Last night after I'd waited in- they called at 8.30 and said that the driver had gone home sick. They arrived this morning- and the first problem was that it wouldn't fit through the gate! Guy measured the back door- but didn't check the gate! It would have come in the kitchen no problem. But it then had to go round the front of the house which doesn't have vehicle access for a start! They had to take it over next doors' garden because again it wouldn't fit through the gate! We've never had a problem with deliveries before- which just shows how big these fridges are!
They then had to take the dining room door off- and then the fridge doors off. They did scratch the top side corner getting it in- but we've been offered £100 off for that. It's not that bad- and not on the side that you see as you walk into the kitchen. Even better- the photo magnet we have covers it- so we can have the photo of the moment on it.
I can't get a good angle to take a photo of it- but will try again later!
Not sure I'd go through ordering another one- I thought it was on it's way back to Boots!! But we've managed to get this one for £400 - which must be the bargain of the century. I've wanted an American fridge/ freezer for years- now it's sat there in my kitchen! I keep giving it a stroke as I walk past. It's got to sit there for 6 hours before I can turn it on.
So after we've been to see Guy's grandma tonight we are going to Asda to see if we can fill it up. The fridge is enormous- not really sure whether the freezer is big enough. We have a seperate freezer at the moment- and the idea is to get rid of that. Then I need a new silver tumble dryer- and that can sit where the freezer is now. Next after that- a new table and chairs!!!!!!!!
We had a phone call to say Guy's grandma was at the hospital yesterday following a fall. She had scans and nothing is broken- but she had a funny turn in the wheelchair and they think she had a mini stroke. They've sent her home!!!!!! She's at Guy's parents now- and she'll be there for about a month. Then she will need assistance at home- which she will have to pay for because she has savings.
His other grandma sold her house and used it all on nursing care. It seems such a shame that careful people lose everything they've saved all their life for!
I finished Room by Emma Donoghue last night and it was totally not what I expected. It was quite a powerful book- especially as it was all told from a 5 year old point of view. He's been held captive in an 11ft room all his life. They escape and simple things that most children love are totally overwhelming for him. It was really thought provoking. I read it in a day. Admittedly yesterday I was waiting in for the fridge delivery- and couldn't do much because needed to keep the floors clear for the fridge to be manouvered in!
Not sure whether to read the Trisha Ashley book or one of the Tv book club ones next. Need to read it quickly so that I can collect the next 2 waiting to be collected!

I would love one of those bgi fridges but we only have space for an under counter fitted one - seems pointless to sopend all that money and then put it out in the garage! I picked up the Ballroom Class by Lucy Dillon (amongst others) from the charity bookshop today - I think it was you who was speaking about it. I am blaming you anyway!!!
lol - yes it was me! I loved that one- I have another one of hers to pick up from the library as soon as I can read one to take back. I need to slow down on the reservations!
I do love this fridge- and we have the perfect spot for it. It was really touch and go getting it in though. Not sure if it's because this house was built pre-metric. Won't trust dh to take the measurements again!
It's all switched on now and waiting for it's first lot of food and it's own scrapbook page!
